Operatunity is a unique brand, one-of-a-kind in the world of music. It is characterized by the unique format of the event, variety of operatic stylistics and performing features of singers and instrumentalists from different parts of South Africa, openness to the new, the intrigue of contest, combination of entertainment and high artistic level of participants’ performance.

The essential difference of this brand from other music projects is an absolutely new format: it opens opportunities to young and potential musicians that would like to pursue music at tertiary level. The brand also will be a gate way to enhance teaching skills of those at tertiary level, through community master classes, for choirs and schools. This brand also opens great educational platform and practice opportunities to the communities at large.

The founder of the project, Mr Xolane Marman, has been involved in internationally recognized opera/vocal competitions while studying towards his postgraduate degree at the University of Cape Town. He has made a name for himself in many opera/theatre productions, as a young director and cast member. He has worked with the great names in the field, with the likes of Professor Angelo Gobatto, Mr Marcus Desando, Mr George Stevens, Mr Patrick Tikolo and Professor Kamal Khan, all attached to UCT College of Music.

SA Operatunity is always on a look out to recruiting young talents to volunteer in the venture of Performing Arts development. Anyone who has a passion for classical music or its development can easily become a member. We also welcome those young artists that are looking to showcase their talents or public platforms.

Operatunity’s mission is to create teaching and development opportunities to young and undiscovered classical talents in South Africa.

Operatunity creates and stage dynamic productions as an alternative to traditional opera performance, showing both its commitment to the holistic education of its students, artists as well as its dedication to drawing new audiences to opera in general. The essential difference of this project from other music projects is an absolutely new format: it opens opportunities to young and potential musicians that would like to pursue music at tertiary level. The project also will be a gate way to enhance teaching skills of those at tertiary level, through community master classes and music workshop, for choirs and schools.
