Zoleka Amanda Meke was born and raised in Cape Town, she only took interest in Opera music when she joined a choir in high school and started singing solo parts. The high school choir travelled to England in 2008, Amanda then realized she had a talent and decided performing was what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. She enrolled at the University of Cape Town and did a Performer’s Diploma at the South African College of Music in 2011. In the duration of her study she did the following roles: One of the Nuns in The Dialogues of Carmelites by Poulenc, as Delia in Il Barbier Di Siviglia by Rossini in collaboration with the Cape Town Opera both done in 2014. She then the following year in 2015 was The Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro by Mozart (uct opera school) , then later in the year was Sethunya in a South African composed opera called Blood of Mine composed by Sibusiso Njeza, it was was part of four 30 minutes South African composed operas (four:30) , it was in collaboration with the Cape Town Opera. Amanda graduated in 2015 with outstanding results and made it to the Dean’s Merit List. She is now registered for a Post graduate in Music Perfomance. She is training as a Soprano under voice trainer Mr Patrick Tikolo.
