Jacobi de Villiers is currently a final year postgraduate student in Opera Performance at the University of Cape Town. After obtaining her Masters degree in Drama at the University of Stellenbosch, Jacobi was selected for Cape Town Opera’s Vocal Ensemble in 2009 under the direction of Albert Horne. Over the following six years Jacobi formed part of numerous Cape Town Opera productions, performing locally and internationally as part of the Vocal Ensemble. A highlight of this period occurred in 2013 when she was selected for the William Kentridge production Refuse the Hour, in which she performed as soloist at the Comédie-Française in Paris, the Volkstheater in Vienna and the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg.
Since initiating her postgraduate studies in Opera Performance last year she has performed as Flora in La Traviata and Marcellina in The Marriage of Figaro, both under the direction of Prof. Angelo Gobbato, as well as Anna in Maria Stuarda and Page in Salome, both under the direction of Matthew Wild. Jacobi is creative, goal orientated and trustworthy.
She offers a fresh approach as a holistic performer to a new challenge. Her knowledge is supported by her national and international exposure to the performing arts. Jacobi’s love and passion for people are conveyed through a foundation of strong relationships. She is a versatile singer and actress with the energy and presence to engulf a room with top class entertainment.
